Cloud computing in your library’s forecast? Ensure a sunny outcome
Carl Grant
Cloud computing is gaining great interest and adoption from libraries. It is also collecting hopes that it’ll solve many problems that exist with current library technology. The result is a technology that per the Gartner Group will have a “significant impact” and at the same time is at the “peak of inflated expectations”. This presentation will cover the advantages and disadvantages, real and perceived, of cloud computing while identifying areas where librarians and vendors need to work together closely while planning for the future. Library administrators/librarians will learn how to make smart and informed decisions in order to ensure a sunny outcome for their library when using cloud computing.
