Patrick Hochstenbach
Audience: Systems Librarians, Metadata Librarians, Repository Managers, Programmers
Expertise: Administrative tasks on our favorite operating system (download & install software, excel, word);  technical inquisitiveness (don't be afraid of bits and bytes)
Required: Laptop computer, Internet connection Programming experience: None Short description: An interactive session on issues in digital curation. What are bits and bytes anyway? How do they look like? What are digital files?
What needs to be preserved? What are all these OAIS, SIP, AIP, DIP, Premis, Significant Properties? There is not one way or a best way to do digital preservation. We will curate some objects from the ground up and want to hear your ideas on best practises. Share ideas, exchange horror and success stories, give advice to all of us who need to start a long term preservation project.
