I've studied computer science and started to work at the university of karlsruhe in 1989. My first projects have been database projects concerning office automation in the faculty of computer science. In 1993 I made a development project in which we've implemented a executive information system called SuperX for the administration of the university. Both systems are still used by the the department of computer science and also by the administrative department of the KIT and other universities.
In 1995 I've started to work for the university library, where I became head of IT in 2001.
I've developed or was repsonsible for projects like office automation. So the whole library management system has been built on base of the information system called "i3v" which I've developed at the department of computer science. Other well know projects are the virtual catalog of Karlsruhe, KVK, one of the most important search engines for literature in Germany. We offer this service since 1996 and we have nowadays in about 1,5 Mio requests per month.
