PhDr. Jiří Polišenský
After graduating from the Philosophical Faculty of Charles University (1976) and military service (1977) I take up work the National Library, where I held various posts. I worked in the circulation services from the beginning, later in the Department of Manuscripts and since 1983 in senior positions as Head of reprographic services and since 1994 as director of Collections Management and Preservation where I am to this day. As part of the work I have organized and carried out many research and development projects aimed at microfilming, digitization, preservation and rescue of documents affected by floods. In the frame of these activities, I participated together with my colleagues from the National Library and other institutions on the development of the digital library Kramerius and of the application Digitization Registry that are widely used by libraries and other memory institutions in the Czech Republic. Currently I am also a chief organizer of the national program Kramerius, focusing on preservation microfilming and digitization.
