Vittore Casarosa

Vittore Casarosa graduated in Electrical Engineering at the University of Pisa. After several years spent as a researcher at CNR, the Italian National Research Council, he has spent many years in the R&D laboratories of IBM in Italy, France and in the U.S., conducting and managing research mostly in data bases and in networking. Since 1996, he has been a Research Associate at CNR’s Institute for Information Science and Technologies in Pisa (ISTI-CNR), involved in the activities of the Networked Multimedia Laboratory in the field of Digital Libraries. Between 2002 and 2008 he was Deputy Director of DELOS, the Network of Excellence on Digital Libraries. Between 2008 and 2010 he collaborated with Humanities Advanced Technology & Information Institute (HATII) at Glasgow University, driving training activities on the preservation of digital objects. Since 1996 he has a teaching assignment at the Department of Engineering at the University of Pisa, where he teaches a course on Technologies for e-Commerce (Web Services). Since 2007 he has also teaching assignments at the Open University of Bolzano (department of Computer Science), at the University of Parma (DILL International Master) and at the University of Pisa (department of Digital Humanities), where he teaches courses on Digital Libraries.
